Huibert Sap (1996) is a photographer, poet, and documentary filmmaker based in Amsterdam. He holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of Amsterdam and a diploma in Professional Video Production from the College of Multimedia.

He currently works as a documentary researcher and scriptwriter at Latitude Originals, where he develops character-driven documentaries. Prior to that, he worked as a creative producer at Scenery, collaborating on projects with award-winning filmmakers for global streamers such as Netflix, international distributors, and national broadcasters. Huibert was selected for the IDFAcademy’s Producers Program and served on the non-fiction jury of the Cinekid Film Festival in 2023.

Huibert’s creative practice is a hybrid of visual poetry and documentary thinking. In 2025, he released his debut poetry bundle, written during a three-month solo trip through Japan. There, he began combining photography and haikus, a medium that now forms the core of his personal work.

Huibert’s photography blends influences from cinema and street photography with his background in history. His visual style draws inspiration from filmmakers like Nicolas Winding Refn, poets as Fernando Pessoa, and photographers like Saul Leiter. His work is both reflective and instinctive, capturing modern life while looking for darkness in the light and light in the darkness.

As a historian, Huibert believes we are living through a turning point in time. With a camera in hand, he documents what we may one day call the past — before we realize it’s already gone.
